Kristy Miller Wheeler
Mr. Hubbard was my clarinet teacher for 7 years. He allowed my parents to pay a nominal amount since they couldn't afford much more. (I stress - nominal - he probably charged my parents just a little to be kind to them - probably out of honor.) He sacrificed his time to teach me. I ended up being in the All County Orchestras and Bands every year in Baltimore. I once made it on the All State Orchestra - all because of him. Our Christmas card was returned this year which made me search for him. I am in tears now learning of his passing.
He was very, very special. His passion for music and for helping me was unparalleled. It was a always a treat when he would show my Father and I his trains after a lesson.
He would let me play piano and accompany him sometimes for fun. My music ability could not touch his.
I'm so sorry for his passing. He was very, very incredible. I will miss him and I'm sorry we haven't seen him in several years now (we moved to Florida.)
I will forever remember the weekly trips to downtown Baltimore for my Wednesday night lesson.
One time, I left my music books on top of the car driving down to my lesson with him. When I arrived at his house and realized what had happened, he was so gracious and laughed with us as we pictured Wagner music flying around on I-95.
He came to every audition I ever had and accompanied me on the piano.
I hope in Heaven he knows how grateful my parents and I are and I look forward to seeing him one day.
We pray for his family's peace and joy in remembering Mr. Hubbard. Thank you, dear, Mr. Hubbard.
Blessings,
Kristy 'Miller' (now Wheeler)
