Steven Addam Metzger's Obituary
Suddenly, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Steven Addam Metzger (Steve), of South Baltimore, passed away at the age of 56.
Steve was born and raised in South Baltimore to Rudy Metzger and Margaret (Schnauffer) Metzger on July 17th, 1967. Steve would be the first to tell anyone the joys of his youth. His childhood spent on Boyle Street with his three brothers meant the world to him. He graduated from Southern High School in 1985 (“barely!”), where he made many lifelong friends. He would always have a story to share about a concert he attended at the local venue, Hammerjacks, or of a well known customer of Lucky’s Deli on Fort Avenue and on Ritchie Highway, where he had dedicated over 25 years of his life as a manager.
The Baltimore Ravens could not have asked for a more dedicated fan. Steve also enjoyed video games and was an avid collector of games, consoles, and memorabilia, a hobby he was proud to boast he imparted on his children.
Steve was a loyal friend and brother, but his greatest joy was being a father to his daughters. He would waste no opportunity to boast about their achievements and loved nothing more than to have a Coke, a slice of Hilltop Pizza, and tell his stories to them (most of which would make them laugh and roll their eyes).
Steve is predeceased by his father, Rudy Metzger, and his mother, Margaret Metzger. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda and Emily Metzger. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott Metzger, Jeffery Metzger, Christopher Metzger, his girlfriend Tracey Dowell, and his cat, Chi Chi.
Services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations toward expenses.
