Shirley May Newman's Obituary
Shirley May Newman
June 27,1950 - November 9, 2020
Raised on a family farm in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, she was the oldest of three daughters born to Ralph L. Newman and Virginia M. Newman. Her hobbies growing up were making and decorating cakes, riding horses, and shooting with her sister, Barbara, on the farm. She was often charged with taking care of her youngest sister, Patricia, while working on the farm and helping around the house. She worked hard in all that she did and always went out of her way to care for those around her.
Shirley first left home after graduating high school to attend Oklahoma University, then decided to follow in her sister’s footsteps by joining the Air Force in 1971. This allowed her to experience living all over the United States from California to Pennsylvania and everywhere in between. She also married and had two children while she was in the Air Force. After her second marriage she ended up in Oklahoma again and in 2000 she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Art in Human Resources from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma right before her 50th birthday.
Shirley was the most loving, caring, and best mother there was. She loved to laugh and always wanted to make everyone feel comfortable when they were around her. She was a mother not only to her two children but to her children’s friends as well. She loved being involved in her children’s life and never missed an event they were in.
Despite her long struggle with schizophrenia, she truly did the very best she could and will always be loved her and missed.,
Survivors are her son, Christopher M. Francis, daughter-in-law Erika, daughter Lisa M. Francis, grandchildren Raina J. Francis and Haven R. Francis and sister Barbara A. Newman.
