Mary Ellen (Summerfield) Paugh-Fleming's Obituary
Mary Ellen (Summerfield) Paugh-Fleming "Bunny" passed away at her home on June 13, 2025.
Ellen graduated from Elk Garden High School in Elk Garden West Virginia. She received an associates degree from Baltimore City Community College in correctional administration. For 15 years she worked at Baush and Lomb in Garrett County, Maryland, and for 27 years she worked for Baltimore City Department of Social Services.
Sometimes, people would refer to Ellen as Bunny or Miss Bunny. This nickname was given to Ellen by her father. Bunny was very kind, loving, and forgiving, sometimes too much. She was a strong woman despite the grief she faced in her lifetime. She was the epidemy of the family matriarch. Bunny loved to watch game shows, especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Her love for pets was evident, especially the love she had for Gato, Samy, and Stormy.
Bunny was preceded in death by her father, Howard McKinley Summerfield, her mother Bethel Louella (Propst) Summerfield, her husband Thomas S. Fleming, Jr., her daughters Barbara Ann Parrish and Donna Renee (Paugh) Calderon, her brothers, Ronald William Summerfield and Bernard Dale Propst, as well as her sisters Carol Jean Harper, and Lenora May (Summerfield) Schwinabart. Bunny was survived by her grandchildren, Tabatha Beth (Paugh) Cutter, and husband Adam, David Gene Paugh and wife Serena, Faith Marie Calderon, Joel Wayne Gabriel Calderon, and Brayden McKinley Calderon. Ellen was the treasured great grandmother to Marcella Evans, Kira Lamka, and Mercy Cutter. Bunny was blessed with two step-daughters, Fawn (Fleming) Trego and Teresa Fleming, as well as three step-granddaughters, Kylie Trego, Harper Trego, and Lola Tripett. She was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and other relatives and friends.
The Family invites friends to call at Charles L. Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1501 E. Fort Avenue Locust Point, MD 21230 on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 8:30 pm concluding the visitation.
