Marcella Cox's Obituary
Marcella F. (Ratajczak) Cox – 1947-2021
A lively spirited woman who’s larger than life and jovial personality took her to travel places near and far with the love of her life of whom she is survived, Christopher Rummel. Marci or “Momma Cox” as she was known to many was a native of Baltimore living many years in Locust Point and later resided in Joppatowne.
Marci was a former teaching assistant at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea where her own children attended. She enjoyed teaching and knowing the many children who came through the school doors even into their adulthood and kept in contact. She was an avid traveler, gardener and collector of many things each of which had a tale of their own of how it came to be. But her best stories were always saved for her grandchildren of the growing up shenanigans of her son’s Douglas (wife, Sele’y) and Tim (wife, Lynna). Marci deeply loved her grandchildren Mandy, Derek, Tim, Jr. and Kali (Toots) and absolutely adored her great-grandchildren Camille, Charlotte and Carter.
Marci’s courageous decades long battle with cancer was witnessed by those whose friendship she loved and cherished deeply. Christine, Lillian, Phyllis and Rose were her dear friends who knew first-hand her fighting spirit of the life she wanted and defied the many odds associated with her diagnosis. None more so than her soulmate Chris, who remained her round-the-clock and constant loving caregiver, her best friend, companion and traveling partner whose immense and abiding love perpetually helped and kept her fighting spirit vital.
True to her traveling heart, she took her final adventure and peacefully passed onto her next journey December 22, 2021. Marci was proceeded in her departure by her mother Clara Maciejewski, her father Benjamin Ratajczak, her brother Charles Ratajczak and her husband John Cox.
Marci will be tremendously missed by those who loved and cared for her.
In keeping with her expressed final wishes there will be no services.
