I never met Joshua personally but when Otakon used to be in Baltimore I always loved to see him rap and even bought water from him many times!
He always made my trip to Baltimore for Otakon even more fun and he will always live on not just from Otakon memories but Otakon history and even anime conventions in the USA.
Thank you Joshua, we never met but your smile and enthusiasm I always will carry with me not just at any conventions but the rest of my life!
I was on Otakon staff for nearly 10 years and while we were in Baltimore, the con was never complete unless I heard Mr. Anderson’s mic saying “Ice cold water. And it’s only one dollar.”
As the “Ice Cold Water Guy” he was a staple for us and just his presence put a smile on people’s faces and in a way, brought us together. Rest in Peace my dude. You’ve done well.
“Ice cold water, just one dollar!” Years later, my friends and I still shout this at each other. He’s a core part of our early convention days. He kept us hydrated, and always for the low price of just $1. I knew where I could go every time I was thirsty. I appreciate him always being there at the cons. He will be missed.

I learned that you can always be kind and gracious to everyone who comes your way. He did a great job reliving us from the hot weather when he was selling those $1 ice cold water bottles at many an event down in Baltimore.
My first "big" out-of-state trip as a teenager was attending the anime and comic convention, Otakon in 2016, when I was still in high school. I had heard about the legendary "Ice Cold Water Guy" before I had even made it into Baltimore by my other friends who convinced me to attend this event, and I had my chance to meet and get an ice cold water from Mr. Joshua in the last year Otakon was held in Baltimore, before it moved to Washington DC. As someone who has been attending Otakon since then, there are still people to this day who attend who fondly remember Mr. Joshua, and I have even seen some people pay homage to him by dressing up as him and singing his iconic song! He has touched so many lives of people who come from across the country to celebrate their love of anime, video games, and cosplay costumes, and he will always be a part of Otakon's history and loved by its yearly attendees. May he and his family be blessed 💙
I got to get an "Ice Cold Water" from Mr. Joshua the first year I attended Otakon in 2016, a big Japanese anime convention that used to be held in Baltimore for several years, when I was just 16. I was even told about him by my high school friends before going to one of my first "big" trips out of state as a teenager. Otakon is held in DC these days but the love for Mr. Joshua still lives on, as I have even seen throughout the years people who dress up as him at the convention, singing his iconic song! He has touched thousands of lives of people who come all across the country to celebrate their love of anime, cosplay, and comics, and need a good Ice Cold Water in the east coast heat. May him and his family be blessed and know how much he is loved!!
The Ice Cold Water Man was a legend for us attendees at Otakon. I was so bummed when they moved the con to DC just because we wouldn't get to see him there. May his legacy live on.
