Joseph Aloysius Birkel Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph A. Birkel, 80, of Stevensonville, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2021. Born in Baltimore, MD on July 31, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Erma Birkel. On August 16, 1968, he married Alice Alifrankis at St. Contstantine and Helen church, Annapolis, MD.
He was a proud veteran serving 4 years in the Navy from 1959-1963. He then went on to work as a maintenance supervisor at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. In his spare time Joe was an avid fisherman and would choose a day on the water whenever he had the chance. He also loved to help anyone needing an extra hand. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He was a kind and gentle man to everyone and his humor and loving nature will truly be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice, his sister Thersa O’Brocki and multiple loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Erma Birkel. The family will have a private memorial service.
