John Douglas Alford Jr.'s Obituary
On Saturday, November 25, 2023 John Douglas Alford, Jr. passed away. John was born on September 24, 1948 to Charlote and John Alford and was the 5th of 7 children. He served in the military as an Army Green Beret from 1968-1971 and worked for C&P from 1967-1993. Married Corliss Alford in 1968 and had two children, Stacy and John.
John enjoyed being involved in Wheels of Unity Van Club. His family looked forward to the Truck in Camping trips, which were a lot of fun. He was called Jr and to some Rev or Reverend. He loved to laugh and play jokes to make others smile. This was a true testament to how he wanted others to smile and laugh. Even when he got sick he left a lasting impression on the hospital staff, especially at the VA. He loved to cook just like his mother and wanted people to eat and be full. He wanted to share those recipes that he got from his mom with his grandchildren. The recipes were always a “pinch of this” and a “handful of that”, never any measurements.
He leaves behind his beloved children Stacy Green and husband Michael Green and John Alford III and wife Tonika Alford. His cherished grandchildren Brittany Glover and husband Dedrick Glover, Craig Hawkins and wife Melonie Hawkins, Darrin Hawkins and Daquan Alford. His treasured great-grandchildren Kamari Carter, D’mya Hawkins, Dakota Hawkins, Ava Hawkins, Melonia Hawkins, Xander Hawkins, Ryleigh Glover and Layla Alford. His dear sister Jacqueline Watts and husband Howard Watts. His dear nieces Linda Thomas and husband Roger Thomas and Deborah Roberts. His devoted friend Mary Jenkins, and a host of other close friends and family.
The Family invites friends to call at Charles L. Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1501 E. Fort Avenue Locust Point, MD 21230 on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 6:30pm at the funeral home concluding the visitation. Interment will be private.
