Oh, Mrs. Eva... what a heartbreaking time this is for everyone who knew and loved you, but especially for my best friend, Amanda, who will carry a hole in her heart for the rest of her life.
Growing up, watching the relationship you and Amanda shared always amazed me. You loved her fiercely, but you also weren't afraid to give her a stern hand when she needed it. Honestly, you gave all of us that when we needed it.
I have so many memories of Amanda, Steph, and me hanging out at your house or stopping by South Side to grab some snacks and chat while you worked. Those moments seemed so ordinary then, but they're memories I'll always treasure now.
I'm so sad you won't be here to meet the newest addition to the Ruff family. But knowing Amanda, she'll make sure baby girl Ruff knows exactly who you were. She'll know your strength, your love, your fire, and just how deeply you loved your family.
You are going to be missed by so many people. And as heartbroken as we all are that you'll miss watching your granddaughter grow, there's also peace in knowing you are no longer suffering. Amanda won't have to watch you battle this awful disease anymore.
Deciding you were done letting cancer call the shots and choosing to leave this world on your own terms—that was so incredibly Eva. So strong. So fearless. Such a spitfire.
You will be deeply missed, but your love, your strength, and the memories you've given all of us will live on forever.
Rest easy, Mrs. Eva. Thank you for loving all of us the way you did.
