Don Buchek Jr.'s Obituary
Donald John Buchek, Jr. passed away on June 20, 2025. Devoted son to the late Annamary and Donald John Buchek, Sr. Cherished father of Hannah Buchek and Jace Buchek. Admired brother of the late Jeff Buchek, and Beth Ann Boush. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
Don was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised in Wheaton, Maryland. Don graduated from Wheaton High School before earning his bachelor’s degree in horticulture from the University of Maryland. A true Terps fan, while watching Maryland football or basketball games he cheered loud and proud for his alma mater. Don's early job at a flower shop in Washington, D.C. sparked a lifelong passion for plants and people. That passion led him into landscaping, and he took great pride in his work, always going the extra mile to make sure every detail was just right. His clients weren’t just customers, they were people he genuinely cared about.
Outside of work, Donald was a man of many passions. He loved politics and was a devoted Democrat, the only one amongst his coworkers. He was an avid reader, diving into news articles, novels, and especially the works of Stephen King. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially ’90s alternative rock, and passed that love on to his children with playlists full of Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, and more.
Don found joy in the simple things: a plate of steamed crabs, a beach day watching pelicans, and cheering on his favorite D.C. teams: the Redskins, Wizards, Nationals, and Capitals. He was kind, sentimental, and deeply selfless. Above all, Don was a devoted father, never missing an opportunity to tell his children how much he loved them.
Don Buchek leaves behind a legacy with his children, his close friends and anyone who had the benefit to meet his kind and gentle soul.
