Dolores S. Malat's Obituary
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Dolores S. Malat passed away peacefully. Beloved wife of
the late John Malat. Cherished mother of Dennis Malat, Kenneth and Darlene Malat, Jeffrey and
Stacey Malat, and Lenore Malat. Treasured grandmother of Jennifer Malat, Brain and Emily
Malat, and Joshua Malat Wolfe. Loving great-grandmother of Henry Malat and Mae Malat. Dear sister
of Antionette DeLeo, and the late Robert Sampson, William Sampson Jr., and Nancy
Hinterberger. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
Dolores spent most of her career as a bookkeeper, working for many well-known businesses in
the Baltimore area. She was most proud of the time she spent serving as the Deputy Director of
the Mayor’s Commission on Arts and Culture, from which she retired in 1995. As Deputy
Director, she was heavily involved with the Baltimore School for the Arts and played a key role
in organizing the Artscape festival for many years. For her work she received numerous
accolades, including a citation and a commendation from then mayor Clarence “Du” Burns.
Outside of work, Dolores valued her family, spending as much time with them as she could.
She and her husband John loved to travel. She was close to her mother and sisters and bowled
on various leagues with them for many years. She was an avid baker, loved to dance, and was
a long-time member of the Middle River Golden Agers Fun Club.
Her family invites friends to call at Charles L. Stevens Funeral Home, 1501 E. Fort Avenue
Locust Point, MD 21230 on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm -
9:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at Our Lady
of Good Counsel Church, 1532 E. Fort Avenue, Locust Point, MD 21230. Interment to be follow
at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor and sent to Saint Martin's Home at 601 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228.
