Bronson and Lynne were my neighbors for many years in Locust Point. When I first moved in I was outside struggling to replace my porch light. Bro showed up and demanded to help me put it in. I am forever grateful for that day. He and Lynne were always there when I needed them. From then on I had the pleasure of chatting often in the street as they came and went on their daily run. Bro and Lynne took me to brunch several times at one of their favorite and frequented spot, Golden West. We had wonderful conversations. Bro and Lynne kept in touch after I moved to Towson, not too far away. I married and had a daughter. They were always generous by inviting us to brunch. I value the friendship with Bro and Lynne more than they know. Bro is missed dearly.

A wonderful man with a very BIG heart! I always looked forward to catching up with him and Lynne when they would jog on into the Visitor Center. May his soul rest easy and his memory live on until we meet again. My deepest condolences to Lynne and the family.

Our sincerest condolences to Bronson’s family.
Bronson was my fraternity brother and mentor. He was President of the RI Alpha chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and we both went to leadership school and I followed him as President.
Bronson was a true gentleman and a man of honor. He was a guiding light for those who followed him. Although our paths went in different directions, he is among the few that I value as a friend.

"I hiked the football to Bronson every game of our Senior Year at RHS. Then we both went on to become Marine Officers--Bronson in the PLC Program at the University of Rhode Island and me in the NROTC Unit at the University of Kansas. And we both married girls named Judy on the same day: December 20, 1965--albeit a half continent apart. A long, long time ago."

Bro, as we know him, has been a very important part of our family since we met him. He and Lynn came to all of our kids and grand kids birthday parties. They were always at all important family events. My special memories of Bro was how he always was concerned with how the grand kids were doing in school and sports. He would sit with each of them and ask them questions about school and grades. Bro would always offer his assistance and advice to each of them. Bro had a special talent when it came to writing notes for birthday and graduation cards. His writing skill was so impressive to everyone. He was a special friend and an important part of our family and he will be very much missed.

I was a new F-4J Phantom pilot when I first met then Captain Bro Sweeney as he climbed down from the cockpit after a training flight. He struck this young Marine Lieutenant as a poster board Marine with his crew cut and solid jaw line. Although well senior to me, we became good friends as he helped me acclimate into my new squadron. He was the Admin Officer and I was a junior officer in the maintenance department. He taught me how to lead and evaluate my junior officers and Marines. He taught me to stay in touch with those I considered friends. He set the example. I had been sent to Maintenance Officer’s School in Memphis and was there when I was selected for Captain. Bronson sent a telegram from the squadron congratulating me…it still hangs in a frame on my wall. He would stop by my house on his way home from the squadron…just to say hi and visit a while. I waited with him in the hospital as his daughter Erin was born. A few years later I’d fly to Patuxent River Naval Test Center to visit him and his family…attempting to be selected into Test Pilot School as well. I’d bring M&M candies for his two daughters, Erin and Kara. Throughout our Marine Corps days and long after, we remained in close touch. Marine fighter pilots normally know each other by our call signs, rather than our names. So long Hemlock. I’ll miss our calls, our visits and our laughter. But I’ll see you again someday sir…Easy
