Lawrence W. Scharbach

December 21, 1933 - March 29, 2022

Lawrence Scharbach died on March 29, 2022, in Baltimore, MD. He was born in 1933 to Loretta and Walter Scharbach, and spent his early years in Rye, New York. He received his BA from Colgate University in 1956, an MBA from the University of Texas in 1959, and served as a lieutenant in the Air Force. After working for several firms, he spent the last 10 years of his “working life” with Pitney Bowes where he headed-up their world-wide transportation network. After his retirement, he spent several years as a substitute elementary teacher in the Norwalk school system; an experience that he truly loved. He also kept busy helping with his wife’s accounting in her fine art, antique and custom framing business. And beyond all this, he managed to ski whenever and wherever possible, an activity that he enjoyed well into his “80’s”. He was a member of the Roton Pont Club in Norwalk CT and spent many successful and winning seasons racing “off the beach” catamarans throughout the North East. He collected a room full of trophies as witness to his accomplishments. On top of all this, he was a very active dancer in the “country and western” music world. He and Elizabeth Scharbach, his wife of over 56 years, lived in Darien, CT for over 40 years. Then in 2012, they decided to move to Baltimore, MD to be closer to his son Albert Scharbach, a priest in the Roman Catholic Church and their nine children. Final services will be held at Mount Calvary Catholic Church, 816 N. Eutaw Street Baltimore, MD 21201. The family invite friends to a wake beginning at 9:15 at the church, followed by the funeral mass starting at 10:00am. Interment to be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
